Challenge
Due to the gait and balance problems, many Thai elderly people have to move their bedroom from 2nd floor to 1st floor of the house. On the 1st floor, there’s only a small bathroom for visitors. This bathroom has no separated area between wet zone and dry zone. From the statistics, each year 1/3 of Thai elders have slip and fall accident. Half of them have slip and fall accident more than once a year (40% a broken hip and 20% serious injury to death). The indoor fall accidents occur frequently especially in the bathroom.
Target Users
Self-sufficient elderly people. These people need just a little help from the helper. For them, it is not easy to learn a new thing with high technology. Furthermore, the elderly are not patient. So, they don't want to look sick when they use an assistive product. Then the design requirements are daily use, easy-to-access and harmony; its look should fit with any bathroom.

Design Solution
DUO SEAT - “Turn wet to dry in a flip.” DUO SEAT is a showering-dressing seat for the elderly. DUO SEAT has two seats. After your showering, open the seat for dressing (the second seat is under the first seat). Inside the first seat, there is a rubber floor covering that can use as a dry floor to pre- vent slipping and wet tips of the trousers. In case that you don't have proper clothes rack in the toilet. Under the seat is a space for a clothes bag, its straps hanging on both sides of the seat. Loose one of the strap, clothes bag will swing down beside the seat. So, you can pick up clothes easily after showering. DUO SEAT aims to be a part of elderly people’s daily life to make a better aging society by increasing the safety for the elderly when using the bathroom by themselves.

Seat : Stainless SUS304 (Tensile strength 520 Mpa ) &
ABS (durable and easy to clean)
Floor covering : Rubber sheet with nano-coating
How to use Duo Seat
1. Place clothes bag under the seat*
2. Showering
3. Open the seat and rubber floor covering for dressing
4. Loose one strap of clothes bag, let it swing down beside the seat*
5. Picking up clothes
6. Dressing on the dry seat and rubber floor covering
*This is optional for the bathroom that doesn't have a proper clothes rack. For preparing clothes, let the helper pre- pare clothes bag for elder.

Safety precautions
Install DUO SEAT firmly to the wall, constructed
of brick or high density concrete block, with
the screws and washer provided. All screws
must be securely fitted to their full depth
because the incorrectly installation may result
in injury to the user. The height of DUO SEAT
is somewhere between 48-53 cm. from the
floor depends on user’s height (you can refer
the height from the chair that user comfor-
table with).
