2018 / Senior Project

Currently, in Thailand, the number of the hearing impaired people is increasing to 330,488. Unfortunately, We still haven't seen or known them in our society. According to my research found that The deaf society is a closed community. They have their own relationship inside the group without external interaction with others.
The main problem is “The Communication” which the hearing impaired people use Thai-sign language. This is the major problem to communicate with the masses.
At present, Thailand has made many efforts to help the hearing impaired people to understand the masses. But no work at all can help promote the outsider to access the hearing impaired. I have seen this gap and I want to present a new perspective of the hearing impaired to the outsider like us. The key to of this issue is “The Sign Language”. This language is not a universal language as everyone thinks.
Like spoken language, the context of the hand language is adapted following the location. Example, the sign language in America (ASL) is only used within the United States, can not communicate with other countries or Japan Sign Language (JSL) is the same.
This situation makes it more difficult in Thailand because this issue has not yet realized so that I saw the bigger gap of Thai-Sign Language.

Objective

Having Fun with Thai-Sign Language

Encourage Thai-Sign Language
Relevant in Our Daily Life
Target Users
The outsider who does not understand sign language, especially the new generation, because I believe that cultivating young ages to learn and recognize the hearing impaired people since they were adolescents, could make a change in the future. When they grow up, they would understand and know that there are groups of people with hearing disabilities in our society.
Sign Language
Sign language is a language for the hearing
impaired people, which is communicated
through hands, facial expressions, gestures,
and emotions instead of "Speaking". As I mention before, Sign languages for each
country are different, as are oral languages
such as Japanese-sign language (JSL),
British-sign language (BSL), etc.
